Why do some black people look up these so-called "black activists" like Al Sharton and Quanell X?

They are some of the worst representatives. They are called "race baiters" because they say and do borderline things to get people to attack their political rhetoric and then re-attack claiming racism. Its also called defensive racism. You are right to be mad, I'm pissed that they constantly misrepresent a massive amount of Americans and I am white! I believe that most Americans have gotten past the feeling or belief that you mentioned;however these defensive racists constantly realign so many issues to racism. Al Sharpton talks likes he is a master on Doctor Kings life and beliefs...I would love to see Dr. King would say about Al Sharpton...
